Hi, I'm MEGAN
... pronounced Mee-gan
My journey in human resources is a story of building my experience and skillset from the ground up, being mentored by some of the best in the business, and a relentless curiosity and commitment to being the most effective leader I can be.
A former HR executive, for the last 10 years of my career, I led the HR function across Canada as National Director of Human Resources for one of the world’s largest law firms. My mandate included leading HR strategy through every stage of organizational change and challenge imaginable: from acquiring other firms, combining with an international entity, to pivoting HR strategy through the recession of 2008. I have envisioned and executed programs related to performance management, learning & development, culture, automation of HR operations and employer branding. External highlights include earning BC Top Employer status for several consecutive years. A personal point of pride is “pushing the envelope” for what is possible and innovating in a notoriously conservative industry. Having grown and refined my professional experience around lawyers, I could not have had a better education in effectively solving business problems and pivoting strategy - skills that serve me well in my current work as a HR consultant across multiple industries.
Beyond my professional experience, I am a committed lifelong learner, most recently completing the UBC Sauder School of Business' intensive and transformative executive education program Meeting the Leadership Challenge. I am an active contributor in my professional community and from 2017 to 2019, served as the HR sub-section Chair for the BC Legal Management Association, organizing monthly professional development sessions for HR industry leaders. I keep my communication skills sharp with witty banter honed through my membership with Toastmasters.
There is a place – it's at the intersection of superior business results + people-centric culture. Let's meet there and make magic happen, shall we?

My professional results and experience speak for themselves. But there is much more to me than that.
I believe that how we interact with other humans, in the big and small ways, every day, really matters. I think laughter is the best medicine and I do it often. I strive for results in business and in life, but I seek fun at the same time. You can get me talking about the importance of mental health or how mindfulness can change our lives any day of the week. I live with a curiosity and passion for living my best life and I want the same for others.
When I was diagnosed with breast cancer in March of 2020, I experienced one of the scariest times of my life. But it also allowed me time to slow down and reflect. It was after completion of cancer treatments and return to good health that I decided to commit to my mission of influencing a better way of work through independent human resources consulting.
